STATEWIDE RED LIGHT CAMERA PROTEST CALLS ON STATE LAWMAKERS TO BAN THESE ILLEGAL DEVICES

“Apopka, Orlando , Palm Coast , and Temple Terrace part of a statewide day of protest”

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando based Florida Civil Rights Association, the National Motorists Association, and Ban The Cams.Org are holding the first ever Statewide Red Light Camera Day of Protest, on Saturday, March 6, at 12:00 Noon in these Cities: Apopka, Orlando, Palm Coast and Temple Terrace.

The statewide protest is calling on State Lawmakers to pass legislation that will outright ban red light camera ticket enforcement in the State of Florida, said J Willie David, III, president of the Florida Civil Rights Association. Private Camera Companies and Local Governments have scammed millions of dollars from motorists using illegal ordinances in the name of public safety is an outrage and a disgrace to justice, David said.

It is time for Florida Legislature to do the right thing by passing legislation that will end red light camera ticket enforcement, and refund millions back to these motorists caught in a scam pushed by our trusted local elected officials, stated David.

State Representative Robert Schenck is sponsoring House Bill 1235 and the Republican Majority Whip, State Senator Charlie Dean is sponsoring a companion bill, Senate Bill 2712 that will ban red light camera ticket enforcement by local governments, David said. The recent bills came directly after a Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge ruled that red light camera ticket enforcement program in Aventura and other cities violate state law. The current ban bills as written is a great start, however, the bills do not go far enough, David added. The bill must also kill the TROJAN HORSE, banning the State from creating a red light ticket enforcement program.

The groups will be at various camera sites across the state waving signs and handing out flyers concerning the recent opposition against red light camera ticket enforcement.
