South Euclid Ban The Traffic Cameras
Welcome to the South Euclid Ban The Traffic Cameras web site.

Our next petition signature gathering will be Sunday, April 17th from noon to 5pm at the South Euclid War Memorial. Come sign the petition and if you can help out for an hour or two that'd be great. Map. http://mapq.st/gtwp1z  It's quick and easy. Check out the "Where to sign" http://sebanthecams.com/events.html  page for info on how quick and easy it is. Only registered voters in South Euclid can sign this petition.

If you signed the petition last year, we need your signature again as we have revised petitions for 2011.

South Euclid City Council voted to use traffic cameras without giving an inkling of care to the concerns and objections the residents of South Euclid voiced during the traffic camera discussions at the city council meetings.

You may have already seen the signs when entering South Euclid stating. "Traffic Laws Photo Enforced". These signs were put up in March of 2011. The vehicle mounted ticket system (the picture above) owned by Redflex Traffic Systems (RTS) out of Phoenix, Arizona will be implemented in April of 2011. RTS will be getting a substantial cut of the cost of the traffic camera ticket. The exact percentage is unknow at this time as the folks at South Euclid City Hall aren't that forthcoming with information. From other cities contracts with RTS, the amount may be anywhere from 30 to 70 percent. A side note: the parent company of RTS is Redflex Holdings Group in Australia. This is important to be aware of as the portion of money collected from these speed camera tickets that goes to RTS, will be going overseas.

What's the problem with traffic cameras you ask? Check out our "What's wrong with traffic cameras" web page.  http://sebanthecams.com/why.html

The problem is evident, now the solution: we are circulating petitons to bring the traffic cameras in South Euclid to a vote. Not a vote by the self serving people in city council, but as it should be, a vote by the residents of South Euclid. Go here to see how you http://sebanthecams.com/get_involved.html can help.

We began the process of getting rid of the traffic cameras in South Euclid in 2010. City hall has been throwing up obstacles to thwart our progress in bringing this to a vote. Why do the people in city hall fear a vote by the people?
