Port Lavaca resident continues fight to remove red-light cameras

Port Lavaca resident Carl Baugh is continuing his battle to get rid of red-light cameras. He is working on a petition for a referendum to change the city ordinance, which requires 200 signatures. Baugh hopes to have the referendum on the November ballot, he said.
Baugh has been fighting to have the red-light cameras removed since he received a citation for skidding into an intersection in November 2009.
The city approved the cameras in January 2009. City officials have continually maintained the red-light cameras are about traffic safety, not revenue.
