Red-light camera opponent calls on council to hit the brakes
Roger Lawson says cameras can't replace the judgment of a police officer

BRADENTON – Roger Lawson is quick to say he's not against traffic enforcement or the police.
It's just that the red-light cameras are not a substitute for a police officer writing a citation, he said after Wednesday night's City Council meeting. During the "citizens comment" part of the meeting, he called on the council to not implement the cameras, which he called "unconstitutional."
Lawson said governments are using the cameras to increase the number of citations they can write and the amount of money they're collecting in fines.........Read More
