We hear Ridgeland might be doing a press conference this week based on a post on our website.
Most likely Ridgeland will try to "justify" speed cameras as a "safety" device.
 
Make no mistakes, Ridgeland did this for money.  IN fact (with the help of avid readers like yourself) Ban the Cams was made aware of where SC keeps it crash data.
 
To say the least the results were interesting.

WE crunched the numbers, since about 2001.  
 
Exceeding a speedlimit was the cause in 1% of All TOTAL CRASHES!   
 
YES YOU HEARD US 1%.
 
In fact we printed out a page that shows it was the 1% of ALL TOTAL CRASHES OFF THE SC WEB SITE!

Going down the wrong side of the ROAD KILLED MORE PEOPLE in 2007 (43 Exceeded Speed Limit vs 49 for going the wrong way down a street)!
 
For Injuries it was 427 for Exceeding Speed Limit vs 1,113 for driving down the wrong side or wrong way of a road.
