France, Germany, Ireland, Saudi Arabia: Speed Cameras Destroyed
Vigilantes take out speed cameras in France, Germany, Ireland, Saudi Arabia.

Vigilantes torched a Redflex speed camera van in a dramatic attack in County Wicklow, Ireland last Sunday at 7:30pm. The automated speed trap had been set on Gorey Road outside Arklow, the Gorey Echo reported http://www.goreyecho.ie/news/mhsneykfoj/. The Citroen Relay van burned to the ground, marking the second attack of its kind in less than six months.

A speed camera in Ostercappeln, Germany was destroyed on Thursday. According to Osnabrucker Zeitung http://www.noz.de/lokales/52248919/blitzer-an-der-b51-bei-ostercappeln-schon-wieder-demoliert, the device located on the B51 was turned off for the winter and had been scheduled to resume ticketing this week. The controversial camera has been sabotaged on several occasions since it was installed in 2006.

Vigilantes destroyed a Saher speed camera system in Medina, Saudi Arabia on Friday. The attack in the Aziziyah neighborhood was just the latest in a string of anti-camera actions in the city, Okaz reported. http://www.okaz.com.sa/new/Issues/20110319/Con20110319406806.htm

On Saturday, a speed camera in Haute-Saone, France was demolished after it failed to prevent an accident on the RN19. Police believe the driver who hit the camera was drunk, Le Pays reported.  http://www.lepays.fr/actualite/2011/03/19/rn19-un-radar-automatique-hors-service

I too was not at the intersection at the time the camera says I was. I was in the same court March 17th. They don't care about the truth; only convictions so they can get money to pay the lawsuit redflex has against them. The appeal is a waste of money, time and effort. We need to find a lawyer to sue Tempe.

the rest of the story michelle ?

it is what you didnt say that makes me wonder. do you live in the area? so it was a rlc violation....

fyi.. i drive 14 miles to work from my home in Gilbert, az to chandler, az. it takes me anywhere between 19 and 24 minutes depending on the traffic lights. the speed limit is 45 the entire commute. i drive no faster than 50 mph but most of the time i keep it at 45. to be totally honest i work graves so i have no traffic to contend with.

however, i know the area well that you speak of. the place of your mug shot is just off the 202 freeway. when you say north phoenix ..that is very vague. but north phoenix could be as close as Northern Avenue . northern avenue connects to the "51" freeway, which connects to the 202 east which has a Mcclintock exit . michelle, you could easily have made this jaunt considering it is all freeway. the judge did the right thing. take some responsibility for your actions... when you lose the appeal.... pay the fine and learn from your mistake...

a picture makes me guilty
written by michelle , March 20, 2011

went to Tempe,AZ court to challenge photo radar ticket, last week since the day the "mugshot" was taken at a Tempe intersection was impossible. For one, I had started a new jog in north Phoenix that week and would not have gone out of the office on my lunch break. But when the judge looked at the timesheet my employer provided, and saw when I had punched out,the judge ruled that 14 minutes was enough time to drive 12 miles to be caught on photo-radar. I know, I was not there at that time, yet there is a picture of me,obviously taken on some other day. My question is: if the day is wrong, what else could be inaccurate? At that same intersection, (rio salado and mclintock) I have noticed the camera flash when I have been driving below the posted speed and with a green light.I am appealing the judges decision, so I can avoid points on my insurance, but even that costs money, too. wish me luck
