BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- A Bellingham grandmother last week filed a restraining order after she says she was threatened and bullied by a traffic camera company employee.

Paula Weaver says a man claiming to be from American Traffic Solutions recently approached her as she was getting out of her car.

“Comes up from behind me – right now, I’m even upset right now about – I mean, it really was horrible,” she said.

Paula is the mother of Johnny Weaver, a local sponsor of the initiative against red light cameras in Bellingham.

She says her son uses her address, and the man wanted to serve him legal papers. She says he slammed a package on her windshield…

“He ended up threatening me, saying - in the middle of the street, flailing his arms, shaking his finger at me – saying, ‘You tell your son to pick his battles more carefully,’ I’m terrified!” said Weaver.

A Whatcom County judge recently imposed a $10,000 fine on ATS under state law for attempting to block the local initiative against red-light cameras.

An ATS spokesman says the company plans to appeal the judge's ruling.
