What are the Facts?

When out talking to people during our protests I meet a handful of people who support the use of cameras by the government to make our streets safer. I think we all want safer street.

So do red-light cameras make our streets safer?
As many states are embracing the use of cameras to"make our streets safer" as sold to them by the camera companies. An Illinois lawmaker who helped bring red-light cameras to the state in 2006 says he will introduce a bill this year to sharply limit their use. "they were sold to us in a different manner than what they're being used for" says state Rep Jack Franks. " the municipalities have put them in areas where they're just to make revenue." Franks says that since 2006, crashes have increased at half the intersections in Illinois that have cameras, stayed the same at 25% and increased at 25%.
Studies have shown that by adding time to yellow light that Accident rate decrease.
