Tampa Scamera "perspective" or more like lack of it in city press release.

Tampa Scamera "perspective" or more like lack of it in city press release.

In the RLC release by Tampa they make this claim

http://www.tampagov.net/dept_Police/information_resources/STOP_ON_RED_TAMPA/index.asp

(on the most likely ATS produced propaganda piece no doubt):

"In 2010 alone, the number of intersection crashes caused by red-light violations in Hillsborough County totaled 642, with 371 of those crashes coming from the city of Tampa. "

Besides not bring up WHAT THE UNDERLYING CAUSES OF THOSE RLV CRASHES WERE!

They failed to mention out of HOW MANY TOTAL CRASHES IN THE COUNTY.

http://www.flhsmv.gov/hsmvdocs/CS2010.pdf

On page 32.

Total Crashes ALL 2006 2007 2008 2009 2010
Hillsborough 23,971 22,613 20,162 18,168 17,480

Total CRASHES HAVE BEEN GOING DOWN WELL BEFORE TAMPA and even Hillsborough Got RLC!

TOTAL RLV CRASHES  were 3.67%   (642/17,480 = 0.036727) Some "massive" safety problem!

Or is it massive budget problem they are trying to solve???

(P.S. on a side note:  check out the Anti Camera Site St. Pete Cameras review of the St. Pete Flyer, you ought to see the "claims" told there by the city (and ATS):

Quote:  Because of all of the half-truths and false information that is in this flier, we decided that we needed to present another point of view with some facts that they chose to leave out. Available for download in hi-resolution file formats at the bottom of the page."
