RLC BAN RESOLUTION TO BE INTRODUCED IN Mt. Julitet, TN (ALSO the "rejection" rate is 70%)

(Ban the Cams note. Newly elected city commission member James Maness was very smart in pulling the "rejection" rate ATS and the city use, which was 70%.

Why you ask???  For in Baytown, TX the town and ATS claimed "less violations" but neglected to mention that ATS and Baytown almost DOUBLED the REJECTION RATE to give the illusion of "safety"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  http://www.thenewspaper.com/news/31/3173.asp

Quote:  "The program rejected 29 percent of violations in July 2008, but documents show the rate of rejections climbed to 54 percent in December."

Mt. Juliet, TENN. – Newly elected city commission member James Maness will try Monday night to pass the same resolution that failed last fall:  a resolution to remove all seven of the city's red light traffic cameras, January of 2013.

Maness, who is authoring the resolution, said the traffic cameras were not his primary motivation to run for office, but they are one of the top issues on the minds of voters, according to the commissioner.

"It's my opinion that these traffic cameras are in for one thing, and that's to make money," Maness said.

Maness had no idea how many citations have been written since the cameras were installed and brought online in January 2010. But he did say that Mt. Juliet, according to the research Maness has done, has a serious rejection rate:   upwards of 70 percent, the commissioner said. In other words, nearly 3 out of 4 traffic citations generated by the redlight cameras are thrown out.

Newly retired Mt. Juliet mayor Linda Elam, now a state representative, attempted to pass a similar measure last fall, but it failed.

Commissioner, and former city police chief, Ted Floyd voted against Elam's resolution then, but there's no word if he will support, or vote against, Maness's resolution at Monday evening's meeting. Not only did Floyd voice support for the cameras, but a sticking point for him was the thousands of dollars it would have cost the city to pull out of the contract with American Traffic Solutions prematurely.

(Ban the Cams note:  IT IS ONLY about the MONEY!   Any bets ATS will bring videos from RLC sites of RLV crashes???   You know the videos that DOCUMENT THE FACT THAT RLC DIDN'T STOP THOSE WRECKS!)
