Red Light Camera Backlash Shakes Up Elections in Texas Towns

Politicians are almost always in a hurry to sign on with the Redflex/ATS agenda when they’re shown the money. That gravy train was destined to fall off the tracks all along and last week some Texas politicians got the message.

Baytown

An ATS sponsored Political Action Committee front man, Sammy Mahan http://saferbaytown.com/City_statements.php , was defeated. Mahan had been a councilman in Baytown before, but this time the residents were wise to his pro-scamera agenda. He also happens to own a wrecked-vehicle towing company and undoubtedly had cashed in on the uptick in rear end collisions after red light cameras were installed in his town.

League City

Elections in this South Texas town went awry for a pro-scamera mayoral candidate. Toni Randall who loves his ATS camera money was defeated by Tim Paulissen who is against the abuse of motorists by the scamera system.

Dennis OKeeffe ran for council in League City as a staunch anti red light camera candidate with “Get Rid Red Light Cameras” printed on his campaign yard signs.

You may remember that League City had to refund 1,700 tickets http://drev.me/jFXvOh due to illegally shortened yellow light times. Clearly their residents are tired of dealing with red light cams.
