ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI-FOX2now.com)— You may remember the commercials that looked like public service announcements for red light cameras. A new red light camera lawsuit reveals the non profit group behind the spots may really be more about making money.

The evidence is listed in some State incorporation documents, which some are now calling a smoking guns, of sorts. The men who formed a non-profit company to promote red light cameras, are the same men involved with the private company that profits from the camera cops.

The commercials began earlier this year, produced by a group called the National Coalition for Safer Roads. The spots remind us of the potential devastation of running a red light. They suggest cameras will make us safer.

Attorney Ryan Keane of the Simon Law firm recently discovered what may be the commercials' real motivation. It's in a document that appears to link the non-profit safety group with the private company that distributes red light cameras.

Chris Hayes asked Keane, "Is it too strong to call that a smoking gun?" Keane said, "No. I think that's obviously very suspicious and shows that is not a fair and impartial group."

He found the evidence in a Missouri Secretary of State incorporation filing. It shows the two directors of the new non-profit safety group, are both players in the red light camera company called American Traffic Solutions, or ATS. (ATS President James Tuton and ATS PR Manager Charles Territo.)
