Pima County Wants to Fix Poor Intersection Design With Cameras (Short Amber and Green Lights)

Pima County Wants to Fix Poor Intersection Design With Cameras  (SHORT AMBER AND GREEN USED TO CREATE "VIOLATIONS".)

December 20, 2011 – 9:24 am

Pima County officials appear to be manipulating light timing in order to justify the installatin of red light cameras. With or without rd light cameras, this video makes it clear that what is really needed is solid traffic engineering, NOT enforcement!

Photo Radar Scam:

Thoughout November 2011 Pima County (AZ) has been collecting data at this intersection to justify planned installation of "RED LIGHT" cameras.

During the 1-Hour period that these clips were filmed on December 4, 2011 Thirty-Nine Vehicles were observed being "CAUGHT" in the intersection on a red turn arrow DUE TO THE ABNORMALLY SHORT GREEN AND YELLOW CYCLES.  Two (2) vehicles were forced to enter the intersection on a red arrow because they were too close to the intersection to safety stop.

The DURATION of turn cycle times VARIED INEXPLICABLY AND SIGNIFICANTLY, NOT APPEARING TO BE EFFECTED BY TRAFFIC VOLUME or Vehicle MOVEMENT in the turn lanes. TO WIT:

Green arrows Varied from 3.5 SECONDS to 14 SECONDS, and Yellow Arrows Varied from 1.8. SECONDS (!) to 9 SECONDS.  LONGER CYCLES ALWAYS OCCURED WHEN ALL FOUR TURN LANES (NORTH & SOUTH SIDE OF THE INTERSECTION) WERE TOTALLY EMPTY.  Conversely, the MORE Vehicles present in turn lanes, the SHORTER the cycles,,,INCONSISTENTLY, APPEARING TO BE EITHER RANDOMLY OR REMOTELY CONTROLLED.

Traffic was "LIGHT" on this Sunday afternoon, (compared to weekdays), but as many as SIX (6) vehicles were seen "CAUGHT" by a red turn arrow in a SINGLE TURN CYCLE.
