Ban the Cams:   Look eh here.  Another attempt by someone (or is it a CERTAIN CAMERA COMPANY MAYBE, like in Washington State) attempting to DENY DEMOCRACY!

Maybe we should call this "suit"  ASTRO Suit.  Just like the ASTRO TURF front Groups around by that same vendor in Washington State??  Think it has a nice ring???

A lawsuit seeking to block a voter initiative to expel Murrieta’s red light cameras has been filed in Riverside County Superior Court.

Diana Serafin, the Murrieta woman who led the effort to get the camera ban on the November ballot, said she was served with the suit late last week.

“I’m telling you, the majority of the people want these (cameras) out,” Serafin said. “We don’t need big brother locally, we’ve got enough problems in Sacramento and Washington.”

The suit was filed on behalf of Steve Flynn, a Murrieta resident and former city council candidate who was chairman of the city’s Public Safety and Traffic Commission when the cameras were first considered.

Flynn could not immediately be reached on Monday.

Murrieta City Clerk A. Kay Vinson, Riverside County Registrar of Voters Kari Verjil, the Murrieta City Council and the county Board of Supervisors were also named in the lawsuit.

Serafin said she didn’t think the suit would block the initiative for which she spend six months collecting signatures at grocery stores and public events across Murrieta last year.

“I’m not worried about it, I’m just frustrated because it’s going to cost everyone time and money,” Serafin said. “And you know, what’s wrong with letting the people decide?”
