MoDOT Looking Into Removing Red Light Cameras
Posted by ; Ashley Colley
COLUMBIA - Washington is one Missouri city that voted to remove their red light cameras due to the little impact they've had on traffic accidents. Now MoDOT will take a look at some numbers and some red light cameras could be out of the picture in Columbia as well. MoDOT will use data from cities to see if installing more red light cameras would be beneficial.
Columbia made a profit of $18,000 from traffic tickets in the last year. Revenue is a plus but the main purpose is to prevent accidents at high traffic intersections and provide safety for other drivers on the road.
