The county signed a five-year contract with American Traffic Solutions, an Arizona-based company that operates red-light cameras for St. Louis and other municipalities, on Sept. 28 to add cameras at three intersections. At that time, a three-member board of county executives ran the county and supported the cameras.
The new council who took over on Jan. 1 did not support the controversial cameras and ATS ended its contract with the county in February.
Councilman Bob Boyer, who represents District 3, said he was pleased the hearings about the matter were public and that the Council followed the wishes of the majority of county residents.
