Houston/Rice University Study – Simulated NONSENSE

Desperate camera promoters have manufactured their fourth pro-camera report this year “Report on the effects of Houston – area red light monitoring cameras” by Matt Loftis, Aleksander Ksiazkiewicz and Robert Stein (Rice U. 8-2011) totally contradicts the previous Rice study (12-2008) which is NOT mentioned.  See:  “Houston Cameras Increase Injuries” for honest results.  http://www.bhspi.org/mauz/Houston%20Cameras%20Increase%20Injuries%201.9.2009.pdf

Again, we have the same predictable integrity, methodology and interpretation deceptions.

Stein is connected to the Mayor’s office/camera profiteers.  The new study still contains NO control sites – Research 101.  Control sites outscore camera sites proving that RLTCs are a FRAUD.  Of course, there is NO real regression check – doesn’t sell cameras.  And, as usual, NO mention of our serious recession – the greatest crash/fatality reducer of all.
 

The “study” in a nutshell.  Biased/conflicted camera promoters use a computer model to “simulate, estimate and predict” that – you guessed it! – cameras reduce crashes (by –“28%”) or right near the usual B.S. figure of “-30%” to keep the LIE consistent.   Texas RLV crash factors dropped -42% from 2005-2009.  Controls!

Stein, and his students, blather on page one and elsewhere that cameras create “spillover effect” – the many times proven false double LIE that RLTCs reduce crashes, NOT only where installed, but, even “citywide” at intersections without cameras (control sites).
 

The list of RLTC sites on the last page contains “actual crash data.”  EVERY site shows decreases!!  Right?!   The same chart in the former report records horrific results!!  Over a dozen camera approaches incurred +103% or greater crash increases, with six over +300%!!! Angles increased +37% (+79% overall).  There occurred 315 more crashes AFTER cameras for an unreported 120 injuries and 3 deaths.

Those who endorse cameras condone lying, cheating, stealing and manslaughter for profit ($$$$etc.)  GOD is not smiling.
