Belingham Now Refuses Public Hearing for Red Light Cameras

See Red Cleveland---Ban The Cameras on Facebook had this to say on the town of Belingham, WA REFUSING TO EVEN LET THE PUBLIC COMMENT ON RLC!:

This is how much your local government thinks of the people. Why bother getting public opinion? Why bother doing what the people want done? Who is the employee and who is the employer here?

Ban the Cams comment:  Is it me, or are we seeing a pattern of the scamera side doing every THING IT CAN TO IGNORE THE PUBLIC ON THIS ISSUE!  And I thought the ATS Racist Suit was bad!

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- The Bellingham City Council’s dropping plans for a public hearing on a plan to install traffic cameras.

Instead, Council President Gene Knutson says, they’ll act on the proposal without taking public comment.

He says a hearing is not required, though the City had scheduled one which was later canceled.

Knutson says the council has already voted to fund red light and school zone cameras in the proposed 2011 budget.
