FL Dems report weakest-in-years fundraising totals. So who gave anyway?
There's not just an enthusiasm gap

In Florida, there's little enthusiasm to give to the Florida Democratic Party as well, according to the third-quarter fundraising reports that showed FDP raised just $894k. The last time it was that low (actually lower) was in the fourth quarter of 2006.

But "enthusiasm" might be the wrong word in wondering why so few have given so relatively little to FDP. There's really very little reason to give to Democrats. Nearly all of the money given to a state party has a direct relationship with the business of the Florida Capitol. Democrats have no statewide seats there and are less than a third of the House or the Senate.

So all the incentive is to give to the party that matters: RPOF.

Still, the special interests made sure to cover their bases. Health-insurance companies, which stand to reap big bucks from a Medicaid reform proposal, gave big (relatively speaking). Gambling interests are ready to battle it out over destination resorts, etc. Power companies are always eager for more power to raise rates or receive subsidies. The American Resort Development Association, a firefighter union and Walt Disney round out the top 15:
