Exposing Red Light Camera and Speed Ticket Camera Fraud

                Every day  in over 370 cities across America, 185,000 citizens are defrauded for over $18 million daily and $7 billion annually (conservative estimates). It is a criminal, social injustice that continues to cost our people billions in property damage, thousands of injuries and over 600 deaths and counting. Why is this blatant fraud allowed to proliferate?  Because local governments, state governments and even the police are getting a cut of the astronomical profits.

                Photo enforcement violates a person's rights to due process, face your accusers, burden of proof issues and right to a fair trial. More than 29% of the time, tickets are mailed to an innocent vehicle owner and they are forced to pay because their car was caught on a camera. That would be like a person lends a gun to someone who kills someone with it and charging the gun owner with murder.

                 Camera enforcement encourages the deliberate use of illegal and unethical shorten yellow lights. This is clearly entrapment for profit. Many cities have been caught shortening yellow lights prior to installing the cameras. The Federal Highway Administration - the supposed enforcer of these lawful yellow/speed limit guidelines - knows the malpractice is taking place everywhere but does nothing despite the fact that improper traffic engineering causes more crashes, injuries and fatalities. Adding cameras greatly exacerbates the problem.

In a twelve year research by Greg Mauz www.bhspi.org/mauz has yet to find a camera sites using more than the minimum yellow light. In fact, some use less than the minimum to increase profits. This is a clear contradiction to the camera companies lies that cameras make intersections safer. A proven approach would be to increase the yellow light by one second. Studies have shown this approach has reduced violations by 40-75% and crashes by 30-50%.

                The camera companies and their partners claim that "cameras dramatically reduce crashes and saves lives." The independent studies show the opposite is true.

                One of the biggest lies is: "Cameras only target deliberate, dangerous red-light runners" The truth is over 70% of red light camera tickets occur less than 1 second into the red light. These violations are invisible and would NOT be ticketed by a live officer. These infractions are neither deliberate nor dangerous. These 70% are preplanned entrapment for profits by camera companies and their local governmental partners.

                The camera promoters have deceived the public into believing that "red light running" is the leading cause of urban crashes and fatalities. For the record red light violations cause 1.5 percent of all US crashes and according to a 1998 DOT report improper right turns on red caused 2,378 crashes of 6.33 million collisions.

        Here is one scenario of how the public is scammed. Randall James challenged a right turn on red ticket charged to one of his business vehicles. He knew for a fact that he was not driving that truck, but despite having a GPS devise installed, he was unable to determine which employee was driving during the alleged violation. James Challenged the ticket, But despite proving his innocence, the hearing official demanded payment. James appealed to a court while a local newspaper reporter observed the scenario. The police sergeant running the camera program refused to be interviewed. Two days later, a letter arrived at James’s house. They dismissed the ticket "on a technicality". I believe the fear of media coverage of this extortion may have played a part in the dismissal.

                Houston Attorney Randell Kallinen challenged three right turn on red camera tickets in a "real court" for a client. The judge dismissed the tickets as "hearsay evidence"- there was no proof who was driving the car.

                People across the world are fed up with being defrauded by corporate/government interests. A vigilante group in England has removed/destroyed over 75 cameras so far. The same is going on in Germany, Switzerland, France, Australia, ect. Cameras are under attack in Tennessee, Maryland and other states. Citizens are using pick axes guns and explosive. Many (including this author) refuse to pay the tickets.

                We The People are fed up! Americans want the cameras gone. Every place where the issue was put before the people to vote on, the cameras came down.

If we all fight back. We can beat this abuse.
