Now, with RLC "reform" legislation advancing in the state senate, protesters are coming back for round number two on Saturday with

The primary protest will take place this Saturday at the same location as last time, Western & Addison in the Roscoe Village neighborhood on the Chicago's northside from 12-2 PM. This action is aimed directly at Senate President

Cullerton has sponsored a compromise RLC bill that is close to a vote, but according to some anti-red light camera activists, the bill has no true reform contained within it.

"If Cullerton passes the bill as is, I think he's sure to get beaten up in the media," says Scott Tucker, GOP nominee for state representative in the 11th district who doesn't feel the bill goes far enough. "The red light camera issue is an embarrassment to the majority party because it clearly illustrates their abuse of their constituents in the name of revenue."

"We're not giving up," says organizer Scott Davis of

Protester propaganda accuses both Cullerton and Millner of

Cullerton accepted $1500 in lobbyist money in 2009, and Millner received a $1000 donation in 2008.

But Millner, who because of his years in law enforcement before getting involved with politics, stands behind his position on red light camera enforcement and defends his acceptance of campaign money from

But protesters are not the only ones taking Millner to task on this issue. Millner's democrat opponent in the general election, St. Charles resident

"People in the collar communities are really upset about red light cameras," says Pierog who has met many people opposed to red light camera enforcement while campaigning within the 28th district. "Why isn't he advocating for safety instead of something (RLCs) that causes accidents? That doesn't make sense. I just don't see the purpose of them."

Pair of Red Light Camera Protest This Weekend

Parking Ticket Geek has tipped us off to a pair of protests happening this weekend in regards to the ongoing battle over red light cameras. The first happens in Roscoe Village tomorrow from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the intersection of Western and Addison. Sayeth the Geek:

This action is aimed directly at Senate President John Cullerton (D-Chicago) and takes place in his district.

Cullerton has sponsored a compromise RLC bill that is close to a vote, but according to some anti-red light camera activists, the bill has no true reform contained within it.

"If Cullerton passes the bill as is, I think he’s sure to get beaten up in the media," says Scott Tucker, GOP nominee for state representative in the 11th district who doesn’t feel the bill goes far enough. "The red light camera issue is an embarrassment to the majority party because it clearly illustrates their abuse of their constituents in the name of revenue."

At the same time, another protest will be held at Army Trail & Springfield in Bloomingdale, this one aimed at Sen. John Millner (R-Bloomingdale) whose proposed red light camera reform isn't good enough for the anti-camera activists.

START OF PROTEST AGAINST SPEED CAMERAS IN JUNO BEACH!

Laurence Grayhills, a Jupiter dentist, protests the Juno Beach speed van about a half mile south of where the van sits.

Palm Beach Post Staff Writer

JUNO BEACH — Honks and thumbs-up signs — and a couple of obscene gestures — from passing motorists greeted Laurence Grayhills Friday afternoon as he stood on the side of U.S. 1 waving his handmade sign reading "Speed Trap Ahead."

The town's white speed van, the object of his warning, was parked on the grass a quarter-mile south. Windows open and cameras ready, the van snaps photos of speeding vehicles. Fines of $125 are sent to the vehicle owners.

"This is big government beating up on people when they can least afford it," Grayhills said as he stood on the southbound swale, across from Juno Beach Ocean Park.

The Jupiter resident and dentist hasn't been tagged with a ticket from the white van. What's got him steamed is town officials' contention that the van promotes road safety.

"The van produces revenue. That's all the town wants," he said, waving to a thumbs up from two women driving by.

 — ORLANDO — The Orlando based Florida Civil Rights Association, the National Motorists Association, and Ban The Cams.Org are holding the first ever Statewide Red Light Camera Day of Protest, today at noon in Apopka, Orlando, Palm Coast and Temple Terrace.

The statewide protest is calling on state lawmakers to pass legislation that will outright ban red light camera ticket enforcement in the State of Florida, said J Willie David, III, president of the Florida Civil Rights Association.

Private camera companies and local governments have scammed millions of dollars from motorists using illegal ordinances in the name of public safety is an outrage and a disgrace to justice, David said.

It is time for Florida Legislature to do the right thing by passing legislation that will end red light camera ticket enforcement, and refund millions back to these motorists caught in a scam pushed by our trusted local elected officials, David said.

State Representative Robert Schenck is sponsoring House Bill 1235 and the Republican Majority Whip, State Senator Charlie Dean is sponsoring a companion bill, Senate Bill 2712 that will ban red light camera ticket enforcement by local governments, David said.
