MONROE, Wash. - Citing unsatisfactory performance from a contractor, the city of Monroe may stop using traffic-enforcement cameras.

The Everett Herald reports that ( http://www.heraldnet.com/article/20111104/NEWS01/711049797#Monroe-says-it-may-pull-traffic-cameras-because-of-repeated-errors-on-citations%0A) the small city's council passed a motion this week authorizing a warning letter to Arizona-based camera company Redflex.

The city has been unhappy with the company's performance, saying that company has repeatedly sent out violation notices that had typos, omitted words and contained other errors.

Monroe police spokeswoman Debbie Willis says that because of the errors, police were forced to void many of the violations and refund some of the fines collected.
