My response to Cobb County, Georgia School Bus Scameras.

(Note:  I make no secrete of my personal post I do to help battle the scamera scourge.  I DON'T HIDE LIKE ATS KROSKE DID IN HIS FAKE LOCAL POST IN WA STATE).

Cobb County, GA (Atlanta) just announced they were installing school bus scameras for "safety".  http://www.ajc.com/news/cobb/cobb-school-board-oks-1483139.html

To say that I take the school district and ATS "claims" that this is being done for safety (and not really for money) with a grain of A BIG BLOCK OF SALT is a UNDERSTATEMENT!

Many of these set ups are paid on a per ticket basis in other areas.  (If the school districts were forced to pay a FLAT fee [NO COST NEUTRALITY garbage], it is doubtful many school districts would want to risk spending their money on this.)

IN fact the NMA pulled NHTSA data for School Bus/Pedestrian Fatalities from 2006 to 2009 NATIONWIDE.

So, from 2006-2009, 83 percent of school bus/pedestrian fatalities were caused by the bus.

Funny the scamera vendors DON'T BRING THIS UP???  But hey the scamera vendors are involved in "helping' write the pro scamera reports, so this "omission" is no surprise by the scamera vendors.

Below is the feedback I sent on the article:  (unlike supposedly "fired" ATS VP Bill Kroske, I DON'T HIDE THAT I POST ON THE SUBJECT)

The problem with this is that it will become long term more about chruning tickets than safety.

The RLC have already shown to what lengths the scamera vendors will go to make a buck, citing for "running" a light because your tires touch the stop line.

IN school bus scameras, the definition can be as simple as being too "close" BUT STILL STOPPING!  http://www.thenewspaper.com/news/24/2436.asp  Quote: "When the machine detects a vehicle moving within 50 feet of the bus a second after the bus driver activates a red flashing light, then the vendor will mail a $300 ticket to that car's owner."

So if you are too "close" they can "cite" you even if you didn't PASS THE BUS or passed the bus while yellow but was still too "close".

It is NOT the safety of the kids ATS (and the other vendors) are interested in.  IT IS MONEY!

Safety is PULLING OVER DANGEROUS DRIVERS!  Not sending bills after the fact that will likley become more and more petty as time goes by.

FIGHT THE PHOTO FRAUD!

Ban the CAMS!

PLEASE ALERT BAN THE CAMS if you get a questionable school bus ticket.  With what happened in Rhode Island with the false ones http://www.banthecams.org/Taking-on-the-Government/school-bus-scamera-cites-innocent-motorists-thousands-cited.html, there is no doubt games will be played.

Since many of the passes are going the opposite direction on multilane roads.  It is strongly suspected that the vendors will "count" violations on roads that normally you can pass going the opposite direction as long as a barrier (curb) or grass median because of a median cut for left turns or cross traffic. 

Also be alert to the red lights coming on while the bus is in motion too.
