Could the India Scamera Poll Sneak be going on in Houston, you be the judge!

Could someone be playing with ABC Houston Poll Results, Ban the Cams openly wonders.

I have been following the poll ABC Houston put out on the RLC issue yesterday.  http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?section=news%2Flocal&id=8196710&status=ok&status=ok

After a while last night I check the results at 9:30 pm (I have the numbers for I emailed them to a few people at 9:46 pm, per my computer email log), after a lot of comments around 141 on the site.

At 9:30 pm est time the results were:

55% Take the Camera Down

10% Leave them in place but turned off

33% turn them back on.

Than I check at 7:00 am est, despite about 11 more comments, the results "majically" transformed in under 9 and half hours to:

47% Take the Camera Down

9% Leave them in place but turned off

43% turn them back on.

Notice that what really changed was someone did a LOT of pro camera votes in a 9 1/2 hour time frame.  But there WASN'T a lot of posting, about 11 after a check this morning.  Kind of intersting eh.  (Was somone awake in India???  see below).

Quit a swing in the middle of the night eh.  Just what ATS and the city of Houston "need".

Either a lot of night owls in Houston or maybe someone was busy loading the poll maybe, from India????

THIS HAS HAPPEND BEFORE in Washington State:

"There’s also the strange thing that happened when the Sherwoods went on vacation for a week. They have a “poll” on their website that asks visitors if they think cameras are about safety or money. When they left, it stood at 30 for safety and 700 for money. When they got back, it was 930 for safety. They traced the extra 900 votes to a single computer server in India. It used a program to change the IP address by one digit each time a vote was cast. Same thing happened with a similar poll on an anti-camera website in Baytown, Texas."

WE hope ABC checks for this scam that was pulled over in WA State.  If they pulled it once before, no doubt it can be pulled again!  And given the dollars at stake we wouldn't be suprised!

you can't seriously be that ignorant, is that you Territo? Cameras don't discourage bad driving, just allows the bad drivers to ignore their tickets. You can't use the word "logic" anymore you clearly don't know what it means. By your "logic" you think our objections should also apply to private security cameras. Why in the hell would you think something so ridiculous? Security cameras are run mostly by private businesses not the government. If someone was caught robbing someone on a security camera the camera doesn't mail them a ticket weeks later hoping they will pay and doing nothing if they don't. A cop has to use the video as evidence and present that evidence in court and the video is subject to the rules of evidence and has to be presented to a jury. None of that happens with camera tickets, no arrest, no penalty if you don't pay, no criminal court date, no jury. How in the hell can you even think that is remotely the same? If you want red light cameras you are soft on red light runners, they love the cameras, they can run all the lights they want and never get pulled over by a cop because they aren't looking for them anymore. Then when the camera tickets show up, (assuming the car is in their name and registered properly in state) they just throw it away. Get informed before you embarrass yourself again.

Nobody played with the poll
written by Peter , June 18, 2011

The only people who are motivated enough on this issue to rig a poll are the people on this site. Claiming conspiracy is never a way to gain credibility.

The reality is that many people around here drive like assholes (especially in downtown/midtown, where I walk every day), and these cameras help discourage that behavior.

Getting ticketed for breaking the law isn't an infringement of your rights, it's a way for the system to ensure safer streets for everyone else. I suppose by the logic of this website, we should ban store security cameras too because they occasionally lead to the arrest of people who hold up those stores.

Grow up and accept your responsibility. I welcome the return of red light cams, the sooner the better!
