Melissa Wandall - Using a Widow's Grief to Scam the Public

Posted by Henry Stowe in camera companies

Henry Stowe

Melissa Wandall is the widow of Mark Wandall, a 30 year old man who was killed by a red light runner in Bradenton, FL.

The circumstances surrounding the accident are rather cloudy, but it appears that the light had been red for some time when the cars collided. The girl driving the car which hit Wandall and his brother in law had several red light violations on her record and only lost her license for a few months following the accident.

Be the Squeaky wheel!

Be the Squeaky wheel!

Below is a link to an article on www.thenewspaper.com  on how the so called "reform" bills in two states are nothing more than a Fancy Name while DOING NOTHING TO PROTECT MOTORISTS from scamera company tactics.  http://www.thenewspaper.com/news/31/3132.asp

From not requiring cities to let the people vote (only require a city council vote in one case, like that really changes something), to not even requiring longer ambers (AZ just restated Federal law WHICH ALREADY REQUIRES A MIN OF 3 SECONDS AMBER!).  Heck AZ even removed the 1 second grace period requirement too!

Knights Mission #2:  Know thy Enemy.

We are in a battle of truth over the emotional arguments used by the Photo Enforcement crowd.

We need to know thy enemy and the tricks they like to pull.

THE IMPORTANCE OF DETERMINATION!

AS you might have just read on the post below, MO Senate JUST BANNED RLC and SPEED CAMERAS!  It didn’t happen overnight.  http://www.banthecams.org/20100429170/MO-Senate-VOTES-TO-BAN-PHOTO-ENFORCEMENT.html Individual Legislators and Citizens (like yourself) kept up the pressure.   People like yourself in MO and other states have over the past year:

• Stayed in contact with their reps writing them to BAN RLC and Speed Cameras.  Even calling their offices in some cases.  (Quite easy, just call and tell them YOU DON’T WANT IT!)
• They protested RLC and Speed Cameras like the Liberty Restoration Project did.  http://www.libertyrestorationproject.org/category/general-lrp-items/red-light-traffic-cameras/
• They Pointed out when the scameras made mistakes and accused people falsely like the St. Louis False RLC accusation.  http://www.banthecams.org/20100420150/Driver-not-breaking-law-receives-ticket-because-of-red-light-camera.html
• They busted camera operations for short yellows http://www.thenewspaper.com/news/30/3074.asp as well as citing people for running a yellow light!  http://www.thenewspaper.com/news/20/2024.asp
• ABOVE ALL THEY DEMANDED TO BE HEARD!  THE PEOPLE MUST BE HEARD!

So even though WE WERE SOLD DOWN THE RIVER BY the Florida Legislature this year for scamera vendors like ATS and their investor Goldman Sachs. http://www.thenewspaper.com/news/31/3123.asp (the same one being dragged in front of capitol hill this month http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/36753472/ns/business-stocks_and_economy/  I love the emails reported on by MSNBC on this one.) It won’t always be that way forever.

Lakeland Florida Protest Report

Again we were warmly received from the general public. During our protest we are proud to
report that we had given away 150 bumper stickers within 45 minutes. We also handed out  around 350 fliers.

I'll like to thank

Henry Stowe for his efforts. Great job on the TV interview.

How camera companies can manipulate violations!

Posted by Stephen Donaldson in Untagged

I saw this recent post on "Kill TN Traffic Cameras" site just recently and wanted to share it with everyone.

Camera Vendors like to point to "VIOLATION" reductions as their "proof" of safety.  The reality is that camera vendors can easily change the violations at will.

Ron Stuard

These cameras are a blight on our landscape. If the amber light is timed properly there are fewer accidents and fewer people running the lights. The signals in Jonesborough, Tn were timed at 3 seconds before the cameras were installed. Once the cameras were up and running, (the first 30 days were a trial run, over 800 warnings were issued. Then the time of the amber was adjusted to what is closer to national standards for the approch speed and the downhill grade. The number of light ran and accidents have decreased. Was it the cameras or the fact that the ambers have now been set to a more realistic time.
These things just reek of BIG BROTHER

In fact a few years ago San Diego wanted to churn some more tickets out of their cameras so they went and reduce their grace periods from 4/10 a second to 1/10 a second.     http://www.thenewspaper.com/news/20/2049.asp .

DENYING THE RIGHT TO VOTE BY THE SCAMERA CROWD!

I always get a kick out of the propaganda of the camera side saying most people "support" RLC. (I have almost started to laugh at it now a days). If the camera side is so certain of "public support", than why have we seen them over the last year do everything they can to stop a vote!

Here are some examples from last year:

1. Chillicothe, OH, the MAYOR actually went to the Ohio Supreme Court to say the voters could not have a say banning RLC! http://www.thenewspaper.com/news/29/2937.asp  MAYOR LOST, VOTERS WON!

2. College Station, TX where ATS funded PAC sued to overturn an election BANNING RLC. (At least the city had the good taste to finally listen to the voters and cancel the contract). http://www.thenewspaper.com/news/29/2983.asp  Petition Drive Site: http://www.civilviolation.com/

3. Baytown, TX where the city had refused to acknowledge a petition vote to let the voters decide!

Apopka Protest Report

Posted by Henry Bentley in Untagged

Well, we sure have learned a lot from our first protest. I was a little skeptical when trying to put this together. My biggest concern was "what can a couple of people do to take on the almighty government?" Well, much to my surprise we were received very well by the local community. We got to the location of the protest at 11:45 AM and we were going to have to wait until 12:00 PM to start the protest. We had a huge turn out (me and my daughter). All two of us hit the side walk 5 minute early to try and get the attention of some biker who had gathered at a parking lot on the other side of the road (were they here to protest?

RLC Vendors NEED to CHURN TICKETS TO SURVIVE!

Posted by Stephen Donaldson in Untagged

Stephen Donaldson

When you listen to a red light camera vendor tell you "it's about safety" better watch your wallet for that is not what RLC vendors are interested in (outside of talking points of course, just like Tokyo Rose eh).

No, what they really interested in is a steady stream of violations to keep their contracts! You see if they can't keep the tickets coming in, THEY LOSE THEIR CONTRACTS like one vendor did in Norcross, GA last year (due to longer amber times obliterating the RLC profit stream)  Dalton, GA dumped them too!

One of the many dirty little secrets of RLC is THEY NEED VIOLATIONS to be profitable.  Don't believe me?

4 Cameras + 4 People, 4 Signs & 1 Bullhorn = BAN THE CAMS!
SoCal Martial Law Alerts
February 14, 2010

LOS ANGELES -- Three members and one guest of SoCal Martial Law Alerts, a non-partisan grassroots activist organization, met at the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and La Brea Avenue on Valentine's Day Sunday as part of the first-ever national BAN THE CAMS! protest.

The national BAN THE CAMS! protest was called by The Liberty Restoration Project, a grassroots political organization based in Kansas City, Missouri, in order to inform fellow citizens "why they should be concerned about red-light cameras." Cities where BAN THE CAMS! protests were held include: Phoenix, Arizona; Los Angeles and Santa Maria, California; Savannah, Georgia; Chicago, Illinois; Columbia, Kansas City, Springfield and St. Louis, Missouri; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Austin, Texas. Chicago's BAN THE CAMS! organizer Scott Tucker, Republican nominee for Illinois State Representative in the 11th District, had this to say about red-light cameras, "I think it’s a quality of life issue … it’s a tax presented as public safety. It takes money out of the citizens’ pockets and puts it into the hands of wasteful government.”

The Los Angeles BAN THE CAMS! protest lasted 2+ hours with participants arriving from as far away as San Francisco. Some of the protesters alternated between walking through the crosswalks carrying signs pointing out that the cameras are "Unconstitutional, Illegal, Unsafe" and standing directly in front of the red-light cameras holding up signs calling for their removal. One of the protesters bullhorned cars as they passed through the intersection:

"Big Brother is here to make sure that you stay in compliance. Do not run a red light. I repeat: Do not run a red light, or you will have a ticket mailed to your home where you will be forced to pay a fee. A wicked fee. Big Brother is watching you and he's here to stay unless we make our say. Go away Big Brother. We don't want your red-light cameras. They're unconstitutional. They violate human decency and privacy laws. Well, without privacy, we're all slaves."

As cars passed through the intersection, there were numerous shouts, honks and thumbs-up of approval for the protest from drivers and their passengers. One of the protesters commented, "This is the easiest protest I've ever done. Nobody likes these cameras." There were a couple of pedestrians who did express support for the cameras on the basis of safety and so were surprised to learn that traffic accidents actually increase in intersections where red-light cameras have been installed.

Gary Biller, Executive Director of the National Motorists Association, a non-partisan motorists' advocacy group, said in support of the national BAN THE CAMS! protests, “They are a necessary part of the process to overturn the use of ticket cameras. The public protests help inform local residents about the money raised by the cameras at the expense of motorists, without any corresponding safety benefit.”

SoCal Martial Law Alerts plans to release a video of their Valentine's Day protest and will be holding more BAN THE CAMS! protests in the future.
