There was no standoff between him and the mayor. No extra police presence and no city official ready to keep him from voicing his concerns about red light cameras.

Instead, Pierre Desjardins was handed an opportunity not only to speak against the city's red light cameras, but see an end to it. Council members - upon his request - agreed to reconsider whether to abolish the enforcement program.

For Desjardins and a room full of others against the red light cameras, it was a move that paid off as the council narrowly approved to discontinue the program by a 3-2 vote.

Later after the chief gives his usual SCAMERA propoganda routine, Dejardings added this:

However, Desjardins believes red light cameras are a dead issue in Brooksville - and eventually across the state despite Turner's claims that red light cameras will one day be more prevalent.

"There are going to be a bunch of little battles like this all across the state," Desjardins said. "In the next legislative session, I think if enough bills are submitted to kill it, I think it will get killed."
